Background:
After completing an ophthalmology residency at Cairo University, Dr Fawzi completed two years of research fellowship at UCLA. She went on to complete another ophthalmology residency at UCLA, followed by a vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California. Dr. Fawzi was appointed to the faculty of USC, Keck School of Medicine in July 2006, where she specializes in surgical and medical retinal disease. She has received several awards at UCLA and USC for her clinical work and her research. Dr. Fawzi is a member of the USC Biomimetic Microelectronic Systems-Engineering Research Center at USC, where she collaborates on several projects. Dr. Fawzi’s research interests include hyperspectral imaging modalities for retinal diseases, and novel, non-invasive therapeutic approaches to retinal disease.
