Background:
I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UCLA. I then went to medical school at University of California Irvine and did my residency at UCLA in Head and Neck Surgery. After training, I joined the faculty at the University of Michigan where I was an Assistant Professor for two years. Upon moving to USC in 1984, I was Division Head at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles from 1985 to 1993. My current research interest is in thyroid cancer, specifically in the genetic changes responsible for tumor spread.
