Dr. Larsen, a native of Long Island, N.Y., received a BA in biology from Boston University and a medical degree from Chicago Medical School. A few years later, he left private practice for a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, in interventional neuroradiology, learning to use X-ray guidance to insert catheters into the blood vessels of the brain and spinal cord. Then, after three years at the University of Miami as co-director of Interventional Neuroradiology, he joined USC’s Department of Neurological Surgery.
Between practicing and training future neurosurgeons, Dr. Larsen found time to get an MBA from the USC Marshall School of Business in 2001. He now serves as medical director of the The Doctors of USC, where he acts as advisor to the CEO, consulting on such issues as medical quality, risk management, credentialing and peer review.
Dr. Larsen is currently an interventional neuroradiologist and associate professor at the Keck School of Medicine, director of Interventional Neuroradiology at LAC+USC Medical Center, and director of Fellowship Training for the Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology Program.
