Background:

Dr. Hatch is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon. He is an assistant professor of orthopaedics at the University of California Keck School of Medicine and is part of the USC Sports Medicine / Shoulder & Elbow Service, a section of the USC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Hatch is also affiliated with the University of Southern California Athletic Medicine Department, which provides care for all student-athletes and athletic teams at the University of Southern California. A native of Montana, Dr. Hatch received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Hatch performed his orthopaedic residency training in the Department of Orthopaedics at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Hatch earned additional subspecialty, fellowship training in sports medicine, knee, shoulder and elbow surgery at the internationally renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation in Los Angeles, CA. While there, he also served as an assistant physician for the Los Angeles Lakers professional basketball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Anaheim Angels Major League Baseball teams, the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks professional ice hockey teams, the Los Angeles Galaxy professional soccer team, the Los Angeles Sparks professional women’s basketball team, and the Los Angeles Avengers professional arena football team. Following his fellowship in Los Angeles, Dr. Hatch traveled to Boston for a second subspecialty fellowship in complex shoulder reconstruction at Harvard Medical School. In addition to training as a reconstructive shoulder fellow on the prestigious Harvard Shoulder Service, Dr. Hatch also held an appointment of clinical instructor of orthopaedics for the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Surgical Residency at the prestigious Brigham & Women's and Massachusetts General Hospitals. Following his fellowship at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Hatch returned to Los Angeles to join the USC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and is on staff at Keck Hospital of USC. He specializes in disorders of the shoulder, elbow, and knee as well as all sports-related injuries. He uses advanced arthroscopic and open surgical techniques to restore damaged joints, ligaments, and bones. In addition he specializes in total joint replacement of the shoulder and elbow, as well as treatment of complex fractures about the shoulder and elbow. In addition to teaching medical students and orthopaedic surgical residents, he is also part of the USC Sports Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Hatch is also active in research and has numerous publications in text books and peer reviewed journals.
