Background:
Dr. Stevanovic has been in practice at the University of Southern California since 1993, specializing in problems of the upper extremity. Dr. Stevanovic came to the United States from the University of Belgrade, where he was chief of the hand and upper extremity program as well as the replantation team from 1984 – 1992. Subsequently, after passing the necessary exams, Dr. Stevanovic joined the USC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He completed Dr. Joseph H. Boyes' hand fellowship program in Los Angeles with Dr. Herbert Stark and Dr. Ray Ashworth. Following this, Dr. Stevanovic spent 18 months with Dr. James Urbaniak at Duke University in North Carolina. He has had the opportunity to conduct research and present clinical papers and has been invited to moderate symposia on many of the difficult problems of upper extremity reconstruction both nationally and internationally. His publications include both clinical research as well as invited chapters for hand surgery textbooks. Dr. Stevanovic also serves as reviewer of several hand and microsurgery journals. His most recent honor was the induction into the Serbian Science Academy.
