Background:
Ramen Chmait, MD is Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine. After completion of a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at the University of California, San Diego, Dr. Chmait joined the Fetal Surgery Program at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida, where he gained extensive experience in operative fetoscopy and invasive perinatology. Dr. Chmait has served as director of Los Angeles Fetal Therapy (www.LosAngelesFetalTherapy.org) within the CHLA-USC Institute for Maternal-Fetal Health since 2006. In this capacity he has provided surgical treatment to hundreds of unborn children. Dr. Chmait also directs a research program devoted to understanding fetal disease and investigating potential treatment modalities.
