Background:

Dr. Schneider directs the USC State of California Alzheimer's Disease Research and Clinical Center and the clinical core of the USC NIA Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. He has served as a senior scientific advisor at the NIMH, consultant to the NIMH National Advisory Mental Health Council report on Treatment Efficacy for Geropsychiatric Patients with Severe Severe Mental Illness, on the American Psychiatric Association Committee for Practice Guidelines in Alzheimer's and Other Dementia, the NIMH National Advisory Mental Health Council Clinical and Services Research Workgroup, and the World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry Task Force on Dementia. He holds a master's degree in biometry and epidemiology and has expertise in clinical trials methods and drug development. He serves as a co-editor or editorial board member of several publications, including the Cochrane Dementia and Cognitive Improvement Group, Current Alzheimer Research, and Alzheimer's & Dementia among others, and has authored over 280 papers and chapters. He co-edited the textbook Evidenced-based Dementia Practice.
