Preventive Medicine - Bioinformatics (Tenure Track)

The Department of Preventive Medicine of the University of Southern California is recruiting an assistant professor on the tenure track for the Division of Bioinformatics. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, molecular biology or related field and a demonstrated interest in applications of bioinformatics to studies of the genetics of disease, in a highly collaborative environment. Our department is one of the leading research departments in cancer and environmental epidemiology, with a large base of studies in the area of genetic epidemiology, including the Multiethnic Cohort Study, the Colorectal Cancer Family Registries, the International Schizophrenia and Bipolar Consortia, the Children’s Health Study of the chronic effects of air pollution, and numerous population-based and family-based studies of other conditions. The successful candidate will be working on both novel computational methods for data analysis, and application of cutting-edge methods to understanding genetic contributions to disease. Appointments at the associate professor level will be considered for appropriate candidates. Please send a CV, personal statement of research interests, and contact information for three references to Paul Thomas, Ph.D., at pdthomas@usc.edu.
