When you visit The Doctors of USC on our beautiful Health Sciences Campus, you will be welcomed warmly by our Greeters – people who volunteer a few hours of their time each month to welcome patients and their families, provide directions and answer general questions – all so that you experience our USC hospitality during your visit.
Volunteering to Become a Doctors of USC Greeter
The Doctors of USC are looking for volunteers to help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for our patients and visitors.
The greeters are stationed in the parking and lobby levels of Healthcare Consultation Center 2, in the lobby area of Healthcare Consultation Center 1, and in the plaza between Healthcare Consultation Centers 1 and 2 during peak times from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In the future, the program will expand to encompass USC University Hospital, USC Norris Cancer Hospital and the Keck School of Medicine campus.
During the greeter’s two-hour shift, they will not only help patients and visitors find their way, but will also observe overall operational flow and will take the lead in suggestions to improve the patient experience.
Volunteer greeters must be 18 years of age or older, able to work independently and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. A cheerful, outgoing and friendly manner is also essential.
We encourage all levels of staff and interested community members to become greeters to help foster empathy for our patients. By “following in the patient’s footsteps” you can contribute to improving the overall patient experience on the Health Sciences Campus.
