If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, your doctor may recommend radiation therapy as the best course of treatment either alone or in conjunction with surgery and/or chemotherapy. The Department of Radiation Oncology provides a comprehensive, state-of-the art radiation therapy facility, offering a broad spectrum of radiotherapy capabilities, including:

  • 3-D conformal radiotherapy (3-D CRT)
  • Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
  • Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)
  • Cyberknife Stereotactic Radiosurgery
  • Mammosite Brachytherapy
  • Gamma Knife Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) to the brain
  • Clinical brachytherapy utilizing both low dose-rate (LDR) and high dose-rate (HDR)
  • Episcleral eye plaque brachytherapy
  • Hyperthermia

We offer a “team approach” to our patients by working closely with our colleagues in medical oncology and various surgery disciplines to provide the best state-of-the-art care. In addition to providing the latest in radiation therapy to our patients, our faculty physicians provide leadership in the development of innovative radiotherapy research programs which are known nationally and internationally, such as those for prostate cancer, head and neck cancers, lung tumors, breast cancer, and brain malignancies. This leading-edge research can offer immediate benefits for patients at USC.
